Dinner Destinations: Melbourne's Evening Excellence
Attica (3 Hats)
Attica stands as Melbourne's culinary crown jewel, decorated with three prestigious Chef's Hats. A regular in The World’s 50 Best list, the restaurant is celebrated for its innovative approach to modern Australian cuisine, emphasizing native ingredients and foraged elements. It was one of the most unique dining experiences I have ever had. The menu changes seasonally, but here are some of the examples:
· BBQ Saltwater Crocodile Ribs: Charred crocodile ribs doused in spiced finger lime honey, accompanied by crocodile XO, crocodile fat mayo, finger lime salt, and native plum BBQ sauce.
· Mud Crab, Bunya Bunya & Seaweed Pikelets: Mud crab on a bed of bunya sauce, served with light green seaweed lettuce cakes and finger lime.
· A Pie at the Pub: Kangaroo tail, peas, mint, and shredded Pyengana cheese in a saltbush crust with homemade vegemite, served with pepper berry sauce and a dark ale.
· Wattleseed Pavlova: A modern take on the classic Australian dessert, with a meringue base infused with the nutty flavor of wattleseed.
The cost of the tasting menu is pricy, but you are receiving an unforgettable dining experience for that.

Kazuki’s – 2 Hats
Kazuki represents the seamless fusion of Japanese precision and Australian produce. Earning two Chef's Hats, Chef Kazuki Tsuya and his wife Saori have created an elegant sanctuary where traditional Japanese techniques meet contemporary innovation.
The restaurant's sophisticated tasting menu might include delicacies such as Hokkaido scallop with yuzu kosho and finger lime, or their signature aged duck breast with Davidson plum and sancho pepper. The minimalist interior, featuring handcrafted Japanese ceramics, perfectly complements the refined cuisine. Each dish is meticulously composed, offering balanced flavors that honor both Japanese culinary traditions and Australia's exceptional seasonal ingredients.

Donovans (St Kilda)
Beachfront dining at Donovans is all about relaxed luxury and bold flavors. The menu showcases a variety of dishes that highlight fresh, seasonal ingredients and classic flavors.
Grilled Moreton Bay Bug is served with sizzling with garlic butter and a squeeze of lemon-succulent, sweet, and perfectly charred. The Slow-cooked lamb shoulder arrives fall-apart tender, infused with rosemary and garlic, and is the ultimate comfort dish. For a taste of the sea, the Seared scallops with pea purée and crispy pancetta are a beautiful balance of sweet, salty, and creamy. The Charred octopus with chorizo and smoked paprika is smoky, spicy, and utterly addictive.
With its inviting ambiance and delectable menu, it's an ideal spot for both special occasions and relaxed meals by the sea.
